Why Portland, Maine Should be on Everyone's Bucket List

 

The reason Maine should be on the list. Portland has the best kept secret in the world. They have a certain type of lobster which they call a "shedder" this is no ordinary lobster. Sike... yes it is LOL!!! But it is the lobster version of a soft shell crab. 

The only problem with this type of lobster, it can't be shipped. I didn't ask why (I will next time I go) but I trust the waitress. But the meat is sooooo much better than any other lobster I have ever had. So where did I get it you all ask??????

A nice little restaurant on Wharf Street called STREET & COMPANY!!!!!! They had a Lobster Diavolo that was literally to die for. Every aspect of the meal was perfect. By far the best seafood I have ever tasted. The calamari and lobster were as fresh as you can get. The herbs tomato and garlic just sent it overboard.

On top of that I had a lemon sponge cake for desert and I love when sweet and tart meet in the middle and the raspberry sauce that accompanied it was the best thing I could wish to have after the savory meal. I wish I could take the pastry chef and put her in my luggage and take her home. 

Aside from that every person in the restaurant has a smile on their face. What restaurant have you ever seen that at...... Don't worry I will wait.......... that is a combination of not only the magic they call food there. But the hospitality of the staff and the intimacy of the ambiance. 

So to Street & Company I thank you and the next time I am in Maine I will have to bring the family so they can partake in the experience.

P.S. I booked a roundtrip flight out of LGA (LaGuardia) direct for a $150 and the flight is an hour. So a day trip on the weekend would be ideal but make sure to make a reservation.
